It seems like the holidays just finished, but you may be shocked to discover that January 9th was National Static Electricity Day. Did you also know that Wednesday, January 4th was National Trivia Day? I’ll take my holidays whenever I can get them, but important holidays like National Trivia Day, National Static Electricity Day, and Christmas could do us all a favor and be more like Thanksgiving being the fourth Thursday in November every year, and be an established day of the month ensuring that we can properly celebrate!
Of all January’s holidays, National Trivia Day has to be my obvious favorite. Despite the holiday’s unknown origin, many Trivia fans celebrated this most holy of holidays by playing Trivia at one of Last Call’s incredible Trivia shows across the country. Last Call’s Winter Trivia Leagues are just getting started, so some of the nation’s best Trivia teams are trying to post high scores, while other teams were just reorganizing from the holidays and just trying to get a qualifying score.
However you celebrated National Trivia Day, when you have time, check out the awesome 2006 documentary Triviatown, about the World’s Largest Trivia Contest held each April in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Check out this interesting 2009 interview with the director and producer of Triviatown, Patrick Cady.
Since many of us already missed National Trivia Day, look to these other upcoming January “holidays” and remember to celebrate National Trivia Day every day!
- January 16th – National Nothing Day
- January 23rd – National Pie Day
- January 29th – National Puzzle Day
Happy (Belated) Trivia Day, friends!
